NT scan

Wednesday was our NT scan (or "nuchal translucency scan") which is part of a combination of blood work and this ultrasound to scan for signs of Down Syndrome, Trisomy 13 and 18, etc. We were both nervous and excited for the appointment. It turned out to be such an awesome experience! We got to look at the baby for a full 30 mins. All different angles! We got to see: profile, face, hands, feet, rib cage, spinal chord, brain hemispheres, heart chambers, kidneys, umbilical chord, etc...

The doctor said that the baby looked great and was growing right on track. I got the first set of blood work back (that goes along with the NT scan) and she said that based on the blood results and the measurements taken, we are considered extremely low risk or "negative" and that there were no signs of anything abnormal. To top that off we got some pretty great pictures - see below:

profile - love the little nose!

(its a little grainy but kind of cool)
