16 weeks/4 months

Can't believe we're already at 4 months! And by the end of this month I'll be halfway through this pregnancy - its crazy and so exciting! Time is flying by and I'm trying to savor each day.

Loving my new shorts!
I've been in them ALL weekend.
At my appointment last Wednesday, the baby was measured (or rather, my belly was) and I got to hear the heartbeat again - that never gets old! The baby's heartbeat sounded strong and healthy. The doctor says we're right on track, if not a little bit ahead. I was given a new due date of November 20th but she assured me that the 3 day difference really doesn't matter too much b/c the baby will come when he/she is ready. I'll keep the timing for pictures and updates the same on the blog for that reason although technically I'm turning a new week on Thursdays now instead of Sundays.

More about what Baby R is up to:  Get ready for a growth spurt! In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now he/she is the size of an avocado, 4.5 inches long (head to rump) and 3.5 ounces. His/her legs are much more developed, the head is more erect than it has been, and eyes have moved closer to the front of his/her head. The ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his/her scalp has begun, though the locks aren't recognizable yet. He/she has even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his/her heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.
