Sand Harbor

The weekend before last (March 15/16) we headed up to the sierras to take advantage of unseasonably warm temperatures and to paddle board. It was the last weekend of winter but already felt like spring. We drove up on Saturday morning and went straight to Sand Harbor.

Having never seen this place in person I was in awe ... its gorgeous. Almost tropical. We paddled around for a couple hours and we had the lake to ourselves. Here are some pictures from that day...

the water was crystal clear

the water was uncharacteristically smooth

all kinds of rock formations to navigate around

gorgeous

We stayed at The Pepper Tree Inn in Tahoe City that night - nothing fancy but a good price, and the best views - and were lucky to have one of those awesome views from our room.

On Sunday we went out to breakfast at Fire Sign Cafe (try it!), wandered around the marina and went for a final paddle off of Hurricane Bay (sorry we forgot the camera). Definitely a great way to send off winter and welcome in spring.
